Agus Suryono has extensive experience in regional economic development, investment promotion, and community-based environmental projects over 40 years. As a highly qualified economist with a doctorate in Economic Development and a Master’s in Management, he has developed deep expertise in planning, regional investment, and public-private partnerships.

Agus has held significant leadership roles within the Indonesian government, particularly in Central Java, where he served as the Head of the Capital Investment Board and the Head of the Research and Development Board. His career within the regional government spans over three decades, during which he rose through the ranks to lead various strategic departments, including Tourism and Economics.

His professional experience plays a major role in his ability to facilitate local economic development and foster international cooperation. He has collaborated with various international organizations, including:

  1. GTZ/DEG (Germany): On projects involving integrated advisor services for investment development and small-medium enterprise (SME) forums.

  2. JICA (Japan): On the development of industrial clusters in Central Java.

  3. ILO (International Labour Organization): Focused on human resource development within the furniture industry.

In addition to his administrative leadership, Agus is the Founder and Chairman of the Indonesian Rainforest Foundation (IRF). He has spearheaded numerous reforestation and community development initiatives, including:

  1. Mangrove reforestation in Brebes and area reforestation in Karanganyar and Borobudur.

  2. Community-based palm sugar development in Banjarnegara and Banyumas.

  3. Tropical forest reservation projects in Malinau, Kalimantan.

He has developed specialized skills in marketing and community development to ensure the success of society-led cluster programs and regional economic growth.
